Flexibility

Flexibility refers to the distance you are able to extend a given muscle and joint. A general stretching program should strive towards maintaining a functional range of motion. (For certain individuals, such as athletes, optimal levels of flexibility are determined by sport-specific requirements and individual factors).

Tania conducts a flexibility test and a postural assessment to to design a stretching program customized for your needs.

Benefits to flexibility training include:

Decreased risk of injury: Inflexible muscles are more likely to tear or strain, especially during exercise.

Increased range of motion: Inflexible muscles limit your range of physical movement.

Decrease in soreness from exercise: Stretching helps relax muscles after a workout and may decrease muscle soreness.

Improved posture: Muscles that are chronically tight due to lack of flexibility or muscular imbalances may cause postural misalignments. Poor posture may lead to pain (common in the lower back and neck) and increased risk of injury, especially during exercise.

Individuals who do not regularly stretch their muscles through their full range of motion will lose flexibility over time.

At the end of your training sessions you will lay down and relax while Tania takes you through your customized stretching routine.
